Three members of Waubonsee Community College's women's volleyball program recently received recognition from the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) and the NJCAA's Region 4 for their outstanding play this Fall. The Chiefs' setter Gianna Raimondi was named to the All-ISCC First Team, while outside hitters Jordan Weber and Abby Colon were selected to the All-ISCC Second team. In addition, Weber was chosen to the Region 4 All-Tournament Team.
Raimondi helped direct the Chiefs' offense while playing in all 94 sets Waubonsee competed in on the season. The Oswego native recorded a team-leading 654 assists and 44 service aces. The 5'8" Raimondi also tallied 252 digs, booked 85 kills and was third on the team with 144.5 points.
A 6'0 sophomore, Weber led Waubonsee with 319 kills and 390.5 points on the season, placing in the nation's top-40 by averaging 4.2 points per set. The Kaneland High School product also was second on the team with 41 service aces and also registered 20 solo blocks to go along with 152 digs. The Elburn native was an All-ISCC First Team and All-Region selection as a freshman.
An outside hitter, Colon compiled 267 kills, 304.5 points and 258 digs on the season. The 5'8" freshman from Yorkville High School also scored 21 aces. In addition, Colon set a modern program record when she tallied 31 kills in a match against Highland Community College in September to break Olivia McPherson's mark of 30 set a year ago. Colon also had a record-setting 40 digs in a five-set loss to Triton College in October.
The Chiefs finished the season with a 9-18 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the ISCC to place fourth under first-year head coach Megan Kronschnabel. Waubonsee knocked off Triton College in the first round of the Region 4 Division II Tournament before bowing out with a loss to eventual champion McHenry County College, which went on to finish ninth at the National Tournament.
