A large contingent of Waubonsee Community College Women's Soccer team members were recognized for their outstanding play during the 2025 season. The Chiefs, Co-Champions of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC), had 10 members recognized by the conference along with head coach Brad Schlemmer being named the ISCC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year. Chiefs' keeper Isabella Delgado was selected the ISCC's Co-Goalkeeper of the Year. Joining her on the All-ISCC First Team were defender Josie Rader, forward Abby Broadway and midfielder Makayla Lara. Rader and Lara were also named to the All-Region First Team. In addition, Chiefs' Samantha Esquivel and Marissa Galloway were chosen to the All-ISCC Second Team, while the quartet of Isabel Chilelli, Baylee Geni, Valeria Gomez and Zoe Gannon were all tabbed ISCC Honorable Mention.
"Bella" Delgado, an Oswego High School graduate, is the fifth Chiefs' keeper to earn the ISCC Goal Keeper of the Year award. Overall, the freshman posted a 1.95 goals-against-average (gaa) overall, registered 79 saves and posted five shutouts, while guarding the net for every minute of the Chiefs' 13 matches this season. In Waubonsee's six ISCC contests she earned three shutouts and had a 1.33 gaa.
Rader, a sophomore from Somonauk, was a key piece of the Chiefs' defense that allowed just 25 goals on the season. A sophomore from Yorkville, Broadway led Waubonsee with 13 goals to finish in the top-40 nationally among all NJCAA Division II players in goals scored. The forward was credited with 10 assists, tying her for 22nd nationally in that category, and her 36 points also tied her for 34th in the nation. In addition, Broadway recorded all five of the Chiefs' game-winning goals.
Lara, a graduate of Rochelle Township High School, booked eight goals and had eight assists. Esquivel, a sophomore from Oswego East, was an integral part of a Waubonsee defense that tallied five shutouts. A freshman from Yorkville, Galloway distributed eight assists from her midfielder position. Another Yorkville alumnus, Chilleli scored seven goals and recorded one assist on the season. The freshmen trio of Geni, Gomez and Gannon rounded out a Chiefs' defense that limited nearly everyone of Waubonsee's opponents.
Despite injuries limiting the Chiefs' roster all season long, Schlemmer guided Waubonsee to a 4-0-2 league record to tie Elgin Community College for the ISCC title. The championship was the fifth in the last six seasons for Waubonsee, sixth under Schlemmer's direction and eighth overall in program history. The 2025 season was Schlemmer's 14th at the helm and 17th overall at Waubonsee, with only one sub .500 season. The Montgomery resident has guided the Chiefs to 157 career wins, the most in program history.
