(Palos Hills, IL) - Waubonsee Community College's Cross Country team had three runners earn All-Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) honors over the weekend at the conference meet hosted by Moraine Valley Community College. Sophomore Daphne Kolody placed fourth in the women's race, and Dalton Klingensmith and Tony LoPresti came in sixth and seventh respectively in the men's race to garner All-ISCC status.
With the abbreviated 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the trio also automatically qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Meet by placing in the top-8 of each race. The National Meet is set for Saturday, November 14 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The Chiefs did not have enough runners to qualify for the team scoring in either race. The College of Lake County won the women's crown, while the host school Moraine Valley captured the men's title with 23 points.
Kolody, the lone female Chiefs' runner competing, covered the 5K course laid out in Palos Hills in a time of 23:22, coming in three seconds behind third place finisher Annie Corbin from the College of Lake County. Klingensmith, a sophomore from Kaneland High School, traversed the 8K course in a time of 29:36.4, a pace of 5:58 per mile. LoPresti, who also golfed for the Chiefs this fall, was just a stride behind his teammate as he finished with a time of 29:36.7 overall. Waubonsee's Xander Lundblad came in 15th to round out the Chiefs' participants.
