(Aurora, IL) - Waubonsee Community College's Women's Tennis team finished the regular season on a high note. The Chiefs routed Olivet Nazarene University's Junior Varsity 9-0 on the indoor courts at the Vaughn Athletic Center on Aurora's far west side. After beginning the season with three straight losses, the Chiefs ended the regular season with a 7-5 record overall. Waubonsee is now set to compete in the Region IV Division II Tournament this coming weekend.
Hailey Wilcox won 6-0, 6-1 over Cheyenne West at number one singles to get things started for Waubonsee. Elizabeth Egerman won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 over Tatum Hall at number two singles. Valerie Schallmo also downed Savanna Neisch 6-0 and 7-5 at number three singles. Lauren Weber made it four straight wins for the Chiefs as she defeated Hannah Hill 6-1, 6-2 at number four singles. Katie Biard won her number five singles match 6-0, 6-4 over Olivia Klostermeyer, and Olivet defaulted the number six singles match giving Pauline Schallmo the win. Waubonsee was nearly as impressive in doubles play as the tandem of Wilcox and Egerman won 8-1 over the pairing of Klostermeyer and Hall. Biard and Pauline Schallmo teamed up at number two doubles, winning handily 8-0 over the duo of West and Hill. The Tigers defaulted the number three doubles match giving the Chiefs a clean sweep of all nine flights.
