(Dixon, IL.) - Waubonsee Community College swept all nine flights in their match at Sauk Valley Community College. The Chiefs moved their overall record to 2-1 on the season with the lopsided win over the Skyhawks. Marissa Silva helped lead Waubonsee to the shutout by winning her singles match in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 over Kylie Burkett. Silva then teamed up with Caiti Gallagher to win at number one doubles 6-2, 6-2 over the duo of Burkett and Larissa Gallardo.
The Chiefs' Julie Pruneda also won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 over Hanneh Chromek at number two singles. Gallagher then edged Adela Bajramoska at number three singles 6-4 and 7-5. Liz Towell downed Sara Ackerson 6-2, 6-2 in number four singles play. Lauren Karolewicz outlasted Grace Ely in three sets at number five singles, and Mary Collum bested Gallardo 6-3, 6-3 at number six singles. Pruneda and Karolewicz won their number two doubles match 6-1 and 6-0 over the tandem of Chromek and Najramoska. Waubonsee completed the sweep as Towell and Collum paired up at number three doubles for a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Ely and Ackerson.
